only just this week my 6 year-old daughter lily has begun to learn to spin yarn. yesterday while she was spinning her second skein we were chatting and i asked what she was planning to make with the yarn she was spinning.
after very little thought she announced that she wanted to put the yarn up for auction to raise money for the cancer-hating. needless to say i was proud and touched and amazed at her generosity.
so without any further ado, here's the auction rundown:
what you'll be bidding on: 24 yds of thick&thin bulky weight 100% corriedale wool yarn handspun by 6 year-old lily.
the winning bid will be donated to team breast intentions through my sister meghan's account. bidding will be done in the comments below and i'll set the opening bid at $20. the auction will run through tomorrow (saturday 07.23) at 7pm cst. and as always we're happy to ship anywhere on the globe!
a big thank you to lily and a big thank you to you all! hooray for cancer-hating!!
hooray hooray!! i have reached my minimum fundraising goal of $2300!!
i couldn't have done it without YOU!! so thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart. all of you cancer-haters rock!!
that said, anyone who would still like to make a donation, i would ask that you do so to my sister's account. she still has some money to raise to meet the minimum amount.
we're on the same team, and the funds will go to the same place. so from here on out, click here to make a donation!
thank you!!
my very talented and generous friend heather (blog or rav profile) has spun up this amazing handspun to donate to my bc3d fundraising campaign.
it's aproximately 315 yards of 2-ply 100% blf fingering weight yarn! and let me tell you - it is amazing!! heather is a genius with her spinning wheel. this yarn would be perfect for socks or a small shawl.
i'm going to run this auction through the comments - if you'd like to make a bid just leave a comment on this post. 100% of the winning bid will be donated directly to the susan g. komen foundation through my bc3d fundraising page. the auction will run until tomorrow (sunday 07.17.11) at 7pm. as always, i'm happy to ship anywhere on the globe!
i'll open the bidding at $25.
i can't stress enough how gorgeous this yarn is in person. the lucky winner is going to be lucky indeed - not only will they have purchased a fabulous skien of handspun yarn, they'll have increased their good karma by being a super-awesome cancer-hater!
again, a big thank you to heather and thank you to all of you who took the time to consider making a bid. now let's go hate us some cancer!!
my mother-in-law susan placed an order for a dozen pink ribbon cloths!
she's going to give them to her coworkers, which i think is a lovely gesture.
i'm happy to take orders, if anyone else is interested they're going for $4/per cloth with the money going straight to the bc3d.
the pattern is also for sale through ravlery for $3. click here for pattern link.
thank you all for your support - i'm off to little pine lake for a week to celebrate the 4th with some friends (so i'll be away from the internet until i return on the 6th), hopefully i'll return with pictures of the beautiful places i've been going on training walks!
let the old town art fair's loss be YOUR gain! if you were unable to make it to mankato last weekend to attend the fair, i've brought the fair to you through the wonders of the interweb!
i've set up a shop on etsy to sell the remainder of the goods. 100% of the sales will go to the bc3d. so go shop and hate cancer!!
yesterday was the first annual old town art fair in downtown mankato. i shared the above booth with some of my crafty friends.
everything i sold went directly to the bc3d fundraising.
meghan, my talented sister and the other half of this year's team, sent these adorable babylegs and i knit and crocheted up a myriad of items.
(there were a few more things that i guess i didn't get pictures of - sorry.)
we raised $100 for the team but still have a lot of items left to sell. in the next couple of days i'm going to work at getting them set up online so that those of you who were unable to attend will have a chance to snatch some of them up!
i also want to say a huge public thank you to my mother-in-law susan (also a breast cancer survivor) who donated the money so we could purchase the tent for the booth. it was a hot and cloudless day, without the tent i fear we may have melted! so thank you susan for both your generosity and your cancer-hating spirit!!
the wonderful melinda has so kindly donated some of her stash yarn for sale to help raise funds for team breast intentions.
to keep things as simple as possible i'm listing the yarns here in this post, if you would like to purchase one (or more) item please leave a comment below. i won't split lots, the price listed is for all the yarn pictured in each photo.
payments can be made directly at my bc3d fundraising page. just leave a comment in the note to participant box that you're purchasing yarn.

i want to officially thank melinda for her generosity.
i also want to thank all of you for taking the time to consider purchasing some yarn. it's not often that you get both a great deal on yarn and the good karma of fighting cancer all in one fell swoop!
i'll also mention that shipping is free and i am happy to ship anywhere on the globe!
today on my 10 mi walk there were blooms of white all around me.
i was also followed around by two dorkier spots of white - my feet.
after talking to a woman in the shower line last year at the three-day i've been thinking that walking in sandals is the way to go for me. i think it will help me avoid the toenail and blister issues of previous years. the only thing is that you've got to wear them with socks to wick away the moisture and help prevent blisters.
so i'll look like a dupe but i'm hopeful it will help with a lot of my feet issues.
and you know, after my first 10mi walk i have to say my feet are practically pain-free. and that's totally worth looking like a dork for!
